Chuckles wrote:Jerry was SUCH a tasty slide player. Faves are the intro to WRS and Passenger. Bobby played so much slide in his rhythm parts (check out the NORML Scar>Fire). Yeah, on LRR, if you timed it right, you could leave after Brent's B3 solo, pee, and come back in time for Jerry's slide solo - which ripped.
Anyone have an Archive reccomendation for Jerry playing slide on any WRS's or LLR's (slide guitar, not Pedal Steel)?
I know the original studio cuts were done on Pedal Steel.

Any Archive rec's for Jer playing slide guitar on any song? Been a while... I'd like to give his slide playing a listen.

I dont have archive rec's but Dead Set has a nice LRR with Jerry on slide. As for WRS you can go to Dead Movie. Also a nice short Spanish Jam on slide. Row Jimmy from Cornell has great slide work. Hurts Me Too also has good slide.

Blob is on it !
Love the extra footage cd from the Dead Movie
- no wacky fx or too long audience shots.
Just straight forward clear film ...
Bob and Jerry riffs .....
Man I wanted to say Row Jimmy, Blob !
So I will go to my back up slide tune - Cosmic Charlie
Bobs slide is not good.I like Jerrys though.
I wonder if Jerrys action was so high it was close to being set up for slide ?
Maybe Bob should of had a guitar set up for slide and would have gotten better results ...
Pete B. slide vid in the works ?

I forgot that Jer plays some kil slide on Hurts Me Too.
I think he re-did the slide part on the E72 alblum (along with the other touch-ups they did), as it sounds so clean and the feedback is so controlled, compared to similar dates on Archive.
There are several in that time-frame.

Its funny the things you find out ...
I always thought it was some vocal tweaking or maybe fixing a bad chord or something ,but a whole solo !
Not so "Live" .....

In the Grateful Gear book it is pointed out that they fixed alot of stuff in the studio, on both the Skull & Roses album as well as Europe 72.

The part about having fixed the slide on Hurts Me Too (E72) is pure speculation on my part.
Listen to some Archives vs. E72 and see what you think.

If you can find it....
Boston Music Hall June 12, 1976.

There are a couple of "What the hell was that" but the second solo break is pretty tasty!

5-23-72 to 5-26-72 will give you most, if not all, of the E72 album. You can hear alot of tweaks (solo's, choruses, little vocal fuck ups)

Which I guess is the reason I dont like the album haha. id rather listen to the Strand shows and hear the real deal. Just like Eyes on Dead movie had a verse/chorus/jam cut. If you listen to the jam its a little shitty so I see why he did it but damn I want the whole thing, crap or not.

And damn Ive fallen off with this site lol. I come here daily still but I just dont see topics that interest me anymore. I guess it also comes down to me having gotten much better off of you guys and not needin so much advice anymore. Thanks a bunch to everyone who helped me get to where I am!

Not the whole thing! Lol hell no to that...But the one jam they cut was a little beat compared to the rest. The verse/chorus was fine but the 2nd jam is eh...I mean its still Jerry and I still dig it but I could see why he didnt want it in the movie.

FYI---that list came from setlists.com and they count PITB, NFA and TOO as played more than MAMU because they're counting reprised versions twice...as for a "straight" number of times played, it is MAMU as the most played song.
