First electirc eh? That's a really good find, and your starting of a heck of a lot better than most people do. And its cool that the dude selling it is willing to set it up for you.

Hows it play?

my 2nd electric was an American Deluxe Strat, it is a great guitar. that is a very good buy too, enjoy.

by the way, are you insinuating that you already play on an acoustic, or is this your first guitar ever?

Nice Strat!

Here's my first electric. Got it used when I turned 13 in '70. It's a '67 Hagstrom Viking I. For many years I didn't like it. Then I discovered rockabilly which this axe kills for (Elvis agreed ;) ).

Looks pretty nice.I have a mexican strat(400 bills) and I love it. Really dig that Hagstrom! I'll bet your glad you kept it. She's a real beauty. I also have a Epiphone Casino(hollow body) and I hated it when I first got it. I just had to get used to the fact that guitars(all of them) sound different...especially a hollw body compared to a solid body. Once I got over this and discovered what guitar to use for what style I was opened up to infinity to what i could do

Thanks for the replies. It's good to know I got a decent deal. Well...we won't know for sure until it arrives Thursday and I get to play it.

I've been learning on an acoustic for a year and a half, but my experience on an electric is zero (aside from messing with the ones in the store). Sorry for the confusion.

agreed. i like to practice and write on my acoustic, and then go to my strat, 60th anniversary mexican players deluxe, which is what i play out. also, i am lazy and usually like to jump right into picking instead of rigging up the electric, although, it is probably a better idea to play both as much as possible.

Good Luck!!

That Hag is sweet, Jon!
My first electric didn't come for several years after I had acoustics.
Sounds like a good deal Pre. That's about what I paid for my used american '62 vintage re-issue twenty some years ago.

My Strat finally arrived today.

It was delayed because of the 4th of July holiday weekend. UPS sent it from the seller in Virginia backwards to Washington DC to sit over the weekend before sending it to Memphis, TN and then me in Auburn, Alabama. :-?

Anyway...the guitar is in great condition. I can't even see the belt buckle marks on the back unless I hold it in the light and look for them. It sounds and plays good as far as I can tell.

The seller left me a nice note in the case saying congratulations I "got quite a steal" on the guitar and he hopes I enjoy it. He even had the action set up for me. Seemed like a nice guy.

I have a 2001 American Standard. Natural wood body with the maple neck. I likes it a lot.
