Wow. Phil really blew me away. It was so great to see him at my favorite venue. and i never thought he would play there being that it's smaller than most venues he plays. the show was amazing though. this lineup is quickly turning into one of his best over time.

A very excellent show at Penn's Peak, for sure. I actually missed about three songs ... too much socializing. Met up with a guy from work that I bump into from time to time at local shows in Eastern Pa. And another fellow, whom I know locally from the extended family here in the LV. That dude, Dashiki Joe, went to Phil Lesh University 1 1/2 years ago for percussion. Very cool. And a first to bump into him at a show.

Security was a bit weird getting in but after that, no probs. They carded everyone and my 58 year old wife had left her stuff concealed in the car so they would not give her the "drink" band. Go figure. We don't exactly look like teens. But still a good concert w/ me, my wife and my concert bud of 27 years and his wife. Sweet time.

The playing was tight. The sound was very good. I wish they had jammed out more. Maybe when I was talking to Dashiki Joe at the bar and on the deck?

All in all a good show. Nothing like seeing a band in a nice venue of 1800. This line up is getting very good. I had a bit of a difficult time w/ Easy Wind. Seemed a bit presumptuous that someone could pull off that kind of Pig tune. It was ok on the music part, the vocals well... jury is still out. (Sorry, Jackie. But you are racking up against the best.)

Well, I pulled down (finally) a copy of the Penn's Peak show from archive.org and I have re-evaluated per my previous post.

I have re-listened to the first set and the second set (acoustic). The quality of the particular one I downloaded is very good. but it is a VBR. I will be looking for a FLAC, per my views on compression.

So, Easy Wind. In the beginning two verses, they did not find the rhythm of the song and when they did the first instrumental interlude, the feel of the song, rhythmically speaking, appeared and I do have to say that Jackie kicked it for the final verse. Nailed it, as it were.

Just wanted to explain.

BTW, some seriously excellent guitar work, imo, in the acoustic section. Recommended to all you guitarists out there to have a listen. Well worth it.
