When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Yesterday I was at the Three Rivers Arts festival in pittsburgh--very cool annual 3 week free gig in downtown.....anyway, I happened to catch a band from Portland, Maine called Rustic Overtones. They were obviously influenced by a LOT of bands--vox sounded very Dave Mathews-esque but the tunes seemed a mixture of Funky Meters/Phish/Little Feat/Bowie and "NewGrass"---all originals. They apparently were around for most of the 90s into 2002, had 2 record deals--both fizzled--they wrote a few albums/CDs then they broke up and did separate projects.

They're an 8 piece band with keys, guitar, drums, bass, violin (very hot chick), tenor sax, trombone and bass sax. Very "growling", raspy horn section.

I read that they put together a short "reunion tour" in 2007 but that they're continuing on at this point....anyhoo, I highly reccomend checking them out if you get a chance. I was highly impressed.

I didn't check, but I'd assume they have to have something up on youtube. They also have a myspace page and there's other info if you google them.
