I knew this thing would be released the minute I ordered that Legendary Licks 2 dvd. I really hope Rhineblow has a GD DVD release soon. More Summer '89 would be just fine with me. I would also like to see another fat Euro '72 vault release.

The whole summer 89 and spring 87 tours on dvd box sets! If you order online you get the alpine 91 run bonus dvd.

How 'bout Red Rocks '69? Seriously, they shoulda just released that whole Alpine '89 run as a box DVD set, the last night is my favorite, but damn near the whole thing is great.

I agree! The worst thing about the downhill from here dvd is they used almost the entire show from the first night, but they cut out the best part of the first set. The music never stops from that show is one of my all time favorites. Don't get me wrong I love the West LA>Desolation>Deal from the last night as much as the next guy, but why not just release both shows in full. It didn't make any damn sense.


I think I'm going to try and get a job at rhino and work my way up the ladder. I'll find a way to get some good video releases.

Complete shows or not, I've liked road trips so far, pretty damn excited for this one though, can't go wrong with '71 for a year

Is anyone else here in love with this release the way I am? Goddamn! Some hot ass music here folks, and I have at least one disc worth to listen to yet. This is my fav of the three so far. They just play with so much fire and passion (and reckless abandon!). I've always loved '71 and it's great to get more from this year. Also see Dick's Picks 2!

Im with you bodiddley. One of my favorite releases in a looong time. Cryptical > Other One > MAMU > Other One > Cryptical > Wharf Rat is graaate. Not to mention the highlights from 8/6/71 SBD! (not that the AUD doesnt already do the job)

Oh, and major kudos to Jeffrey Norman on the sound mastering. When I first heard there was an audience patch on the Dark Star I was a little worried, but he did such a phenomenal job you hardly notice it. The Dark Star itself is pretty damn great with a raucous Feelin' Groovy jam thats just plain joyous.

All I've come across regarding the origin of these tapes is that they miraculously "appeared". Makes me wonder if someone associated with the band had them all along and got a nice little chunk of change for selling them back to their rightful owners? Pure speculation I know, but sometimes it's what's not said that speaks volumes. Anyone hear anymore regarding their origin?

I've got to agree with bodiddley, the remastering on the road trips so far has been incredible (won't even mention the Winterland 73 Box set ). Whoever does these should be considered for sainthood.

Lot of people gripe about the road trips not being full shows, but I'll take whatever I can with this kind of sound quality.

Seems to me that ever since the beginning the Dead luged around a soundboard so SQ is almost always good, even on the bootlegs.

Too bad Pink Floyd didn't seem to do that, almost all of their shows are AUD recordings, and poor ones at that. :(
