I'm working on the guitar parts to Terrapin the last week or so.
What a great composition for guitar!
(A vid in inevitable).

Anyway...
Listening to the studio version, I'm struck by the sound of the guitar solo's, that I always thought were keyboard solo's, but are the same notes that Jer plays on the Closing of Winterland vid.

So I break out the Grateful Gear book and on pages 174-177 they discuss the Terrapin sessions, in which Jerry used some new guitar products including a "Slavedriver" psuedo guitar synth, and the "Zetaphon" (not much detail in the book on this one).

Speaking of the solo leading right up to "Since the end was never told...."
So is that the Slavedriver or the Zetaphon?!?!

Any sightings of these units by anyone???

Aw man I HAD a cool U tube vid of Terrapin ,'78 I think, that I used for learning the solo - now its gone.
I looked all over and couldnt find it.
Showed Jerry sliding into the 15th fret d to start the solo....
That would be a good vid Pete B.- especially the transition riff from Lady to Terrapin..
The album is good for learning it...
E.H. makes a guitar synth (called the Micro Synth) that makes some far out sounds.
