Phew, what an interview. I thought it was interesting how Jerry was saying he spent time unlearning the things he knew and started over so that he didn't get himself stuck playing the things he found easist to play.

Thx so much for posting this interview. What a great read. Everytime I read/hear a Garcia interview, I'm struck by what an incredibly intelligent person he was. I dunno, even though it's always about music, I get the feeling that he could expound on just about any topic as lucid and easily as he did on music.

And I have to say to I love that he compliments Bobby. As has been stated in another forum Bobby really gets way to much shit from heads. Daisy Dukes, pink polos, and his cheeeesy hah! aside, he really is one of the best rhythm players ever.

Jerry was without doubt one of those super intelligent people who got bored very quickly and needed things to challange and occupy him all the time. Almost everyone that knew him said he had the most brilliant of minds and was the best conversationalist they ever met.

Though I never met him or spoke to him, just reading interviews he gave and listening to him in interviews I can see why they said that.
