Just saw my buddy MTTOURPRO's post on the "Unbroken Chain" thread....

How's about listing the bust-out appearances at which you personally were in attendance, everyone???

Here are mine:

1. Knockin' On Heaven's Door (1st performance withOUT Bob Dylan) - coming out of "Space"...Pittsburgh, 7/6/87 (date of "In The Dark" release and not ONE song played from that album!! CLASSIC!!!) with the Neville Bros....also my first GD show.

2. Black Throated Wind 3/16/90 Cap Center, Landover, MD

3. Hey Jude (the whole song) 3/22/90 Hamilton, Ontario - Copps Coliseum (also the night of the final "Believe It Or Not")

4. Rubin & Cherise 3/17/91 Cap Center

5. Casey Jones 6/20/92

6. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds 3/17/93 Cap Center (they sure did like busting out tunes at the Cap Center in Spring!!)

That's it for ME...what about YOU????

I assume you mean songs that they stopped playing for awhile and then picked up again as well as songs the first time played? Or just one? I liked their songs better than covers, so although I saw many break out covers (why don't we do it in the road?)I prefer the originals that came back...

I was at many over the years but the one that sticks out was the Box of Rain in Hampton. People were just hugging and loving it. Then they did the formerly the Warlocks thing and busted out a few.

I remember the first Cryptical I saw at the Greeks in like '84 -that was also a major rise.

Saw the Jerry was back shows in Oakland where they did Black Muddy River and Push Comes to Show. Also remember being floored that they did New Speedway Boogie in Oakland, one I thought I'd never see. Too many to name, but I missed that damn Ripple in Landover and it still bugs me...

They did it for the Make a Wish foundation I think ?
Might have seen Box somewhere - I remember I saw Phil sing something one or twice....

Wish I saw that Ripple, too...heard a recording of it.

Yeah, I mean ANY tune that they did (should be more than just a year or so...like the "Believe It Or Not" I saw in Ontario '90 was the first one since '88, I think - I didn't list that...too short) after a good, solid period of time being put away or first time ever. Cover OR original.

Just thought it'd be interesting to see what killer moments people caught.

NSB - I saw the first one on the East Coast and I always loved that tune.

When I was on my way down to the Cap Center in 1990, I said to my buddy in the car, "Man, I'd LOVE to see a Black Throated Wind tonight! But, shit...they haven't done it since 1974...it'll never happen." Two M.C. Escher blotters later, there it was!!! With goofy, new lyrics that ol' Bobcheese quickly put away after 1 or 2 times before reverting back to the original verses, but I was jumping out of my skin when I heard the first few chords! One of my favorite Bobby tunes ever. That whole series of shows was great, but that 3rd night....they were ON FIRE...tight!!!! 3/16/90...if you don't have it, get it....very well played show.
