The Bob guy I jam with burned me a copy of Ace and A Rat Dog album I think its called "Night Sounds " - some good stuff.
Ace has gotta be one of the best Dead albums ever.
The Ratdog stuff is way better than I thought I would like.
I think it would be cool to do the newer Bob songs with Jerry in mind.
You know -a "What If " type thing.

Pentangle was a British folk rock (folk-jazz) band. The original band ran from late 1960s into early 1970s with future incarnations to the early 1980s.

The original line-up:

Jacqui McShee - vocals
John Renbourn - guitar
Bert Jansch - guitar
Danny Thompson - bass
Terry Cox - drums

Pentangle is A Brittish folk rock group from the 60's. Somewhat like Fairport Convention. (I realize that name proabably means as much as Pentangle...)

John Renbourn: Guitar, Vocals
Bert Jansch: Guitar, Volcals
Jaqui McShee: Vocals
Danny Thompson: Bass
Terry Cox: Drums

Renbourn and Jansch are incredible guitarsts. Totally different field than Jerry, but just as good at what they do, IMO.

Yeah, I suppose he must have. Jansch did the first recorded version (that I know of, from the 60's) of Blackwaterside. He also kind of popularized the DADGAD tunning arround England at that time.

Sandy Denny, from Fairport, is the vocalist on the Battle of Evermore as well, and Plant played with Fairport in the 80's.

So they were all conected in a way, not unlike the Dead and JA, QMS and the other SF groups.

Very much agree, bro! I think Bobby had gotten so accustomed to Jerry that even sans-JG alot of the stuff is still geared towards that magic!

Bobby still plays alot of his off-beat rhythm and complex progressions as he did with the GD.

Personally, I really love what MK brings to the music. It's obvious he had been inspired by JG but isn't trying to copy him note for note. Seems like a healthy dichotomy as he blends in his own style!

Saw Phil with Warren and didnt think it clicked that well.I LOVE Warren,too.
Same with Herring.Dont like his style,though.
Saw MK on that Obama thing and was thinking I wouldnt like him but he left me feeling intrigued.
None of my friends wanted to see Bob this last time around - next time I'm going !

Also - I thought Plant sang "Battle of Evermore".

It's a duet, with Plant and Sandy Denny trading parts... (it change about every two lines)

Sandy Denny is singing:

"Oh dance in the dark, sing to the morning light"
"Throw down your plown and hoe" (or is it ho?!)

They do sound almost identical though.

Probably because the're both incredible.
