I've seen a few, but my favorite is actually Jerry singing/trading lines with bobby during He's Gone > Smokestack at the Centrum 84. The charisma in that space was pure joy!

Nice thread.

There were so many great Jerry moments. It is fantastic that so many of them were recorded.

My favorite might have been at a concert at the Keystone Berkeley in 1980 or 1981. I can't remember the exact date. Jerry's guitar was just on fire during those years. I was standing right underneath Jerry one particularly strong night, and he played a version of Dear Prudence that lasted about 15 minutes, It was pure heaven. I will never forget it. Rarely in my life have I witnessed such supreme musical artistry. And I have seen quite a lot.

This may seem simplistic, but at every show I saw when Jerry played his first solo of the night, and the crowd invariably roared, I would always feel the love quite profoundly and think what a phenomena this band really is.

i liked it when Jer would push his glasses back up on his nose...

funny the two posts above me are prolly the 2 things I always got the biggest kick out of. I remember pre-coma we used to kid around that the number of times he slid the glasses back up correlated directly to how hard he was nodding on stage which of course translated to just how high he had gotten, sick as it sounds, it seemed funny back then. Of course in the coming years there would be little humor in heroin use.
And. I always got a charge outta how hard everybody in the audience fed off Jerry's energy. Which in later years a simple smile or a 2 step would be about the total. When they started having the video feeds on summer tour, 60,000+ people just eating everything up was exciting.

For all the bitching and moaning many did about the sheer size of later shows, there was a very exciting element to having that many people sharing a collective moment.

all of the above, yes..

gosh, i can remember just laughing my ass off when i saw jerry and the boys...i was like a little kid with ice cream on my head...hamilton 92 i had front row seats and i can remember waving to jerry to say hi and thanks for coming back to my home town, he just smilled and nodded....it was great, being that close to the stage in an arean made me feel like they were playing in my rec room...

I MISS THAT!!!!!!
