Introduce Yourself First! We think of each other as being part of a community, and want to know who you are. Use this as an opportunity to honestly represent yourself and why you are here. Be Respectful of others when posting: There is a lot of leeway of what is acceptable here, but, your point should be able to be made without humiliating, hateful words, witch-hunts, ganging up, bullying, name calling, threats, or violence. I use Jasc Paintshop Pro. It's not that easy to use but works well. My wife (www.kristinalayton.com) makes the artwork or I pull useable images and make the background. The using layers I apply the text. I burn the final bitmap to CD and take it to the UPS Store for printing.
Seeing as the band Im in now is my first and we have yet to play a show ive never done this for myself. BUT I did make flyers for a friends band before and I used Adobe Photoshop. Unless your willing to download illegally then its gonna be WAY out of your league though. like 600 or somethin like that lol
Our drummer owns his own printing business. Makes it pretty easy. I know he uses a mac and prolly something like photoshop etc.
You could always just use "paint" and perhaps cut and paste whatever you want with it.
I'm a photoshop geek. It has a pretty steep learning curve though if you haven't used it already.
The Gimp is a free full featured open source Photoshop "equivalent". http://www.gimp.org/It has almost all of the same features but it still has the same kind of learning curve. With a bit of playing around though - you'll be able to make something decent in a short time.
I just realized - there's also Photoshop Elements - It has all of the features that an average user would want at a fraction of the price - it's $80. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us
Photoshop is he way to go but it's pricy and has quite a learning curve.
Yet you can still make posters or flyers to promote your show even with MS Word. You can download trippy fonts such as from: http://www.psychedelix.com/fonts.html
and insert an image (Insert/Picture/From File) onto the page, resize it if necessary and there you go...
my dear bandmate Tourpro, suggested that our dear drummer who owns print shop does our posters, but usually it is our dear bassist (me) that prints and delivers the poster..i have a template that I did using microsoft publisher..found a cool backround then added in the info ..email me and I will send you copy
The Moose needs a Eyeball thats a planet or the black that makes up the Moose needs to look like space (like RUKINDS space background ?).
