We learned Not Fade Away from a Rolling Stones tab book, that version is definitely in A not A minor. I can't remember ever playing along with the Dead on that one (seems like it would be kind of boring, they don't jam that one much), so I can't say for sure if the Dead played it in A or not.

The Dead played Ramble on Rose in D, but I have found that there is nothing wrong with re-keying it 5 half steps down to A, fits better with my vocal range there. I wouldn't be surprised if other men with limited range/singing ability like me found it easier to sing that way.

Is Miss 1/2 Step in Amin?? For some reason i thought it was in G or C.

I tend to agree. For me, if a song has a chorus of all major chords, it's a little tough to think of it as in a minor key- even when it spends a fair amount of time on and around a minor chord. Half Step, I would consider it a C song (Phil does it in G)

Also true of my lazily cited Whiskey In The Jar: it's C as well.

Les Brers in Am should get tucked into that set somewhere...

The point of Miss Half (for the sake of this thread), is that you would end Loser or West LA on a ringing Am, and then kick off Miss Half with the Am lick, which is basically the "musical" hook or theme of the song (the Key of C applying to the Lyrical content, of course).
The idea being to maintain an Am theme with a string of songs.

I think ya could also work in the Skipknot "study in Am", and keep with the theme. It would be very cool actually, and help to bring you to a 60 min set of Aminor-ee material.

[Note: Don't confuse songs in the Key of A, with songs that are in, or based out of, Am].

I use A Mixolydian here. So im guessing that would be in the key of D..

They dont jam that one much?!!? I have 20 some odd minute versions of NFA lol. And it can be very fun for the first few minutes. Just gotta jam along to the right ones. I like DP29 and DP15 for NFA.

And last but not least Pete B. wouldnt the Miss 1/2 ruin the whole Am thing considering the ending? Unless maybe that was the last song of the set. Well that or I guess you could slowly melt back into Am. But it still seems like it would throw it off.
