I was jamming today to a china cat/i know you rider combo, and as the song switches between cat and rider the strap on my guitar comes loose

the guitar (Ibanez Artcore AG-series) falls to the ground, and the input got pushed inside the guitar, SO now, my guitar's input jack is completely broken off the guitar and I cant unplug the wire from the thing. BUTTT it still works

so what should I do and how much is it going to cost....

That happened to a buddy's 335... only on the top.
They put a 50 cent piece sized piece of black pickguard material over the hole and mounted the jack in that.
It was the 80's so i don't remember the repair cost.
He still uses that axe.

I remember the guy at GC asked me if I wanted them, and I,not at a smart man at the time, figured he was trying to scam me...

That shouldn't be too hard to repair if you can solder even a little and have a couple of screwdrivers. Take off the back plate (or get to the control cavity however you access it) and have a look. Every Ibby bass I've ever owned needed a new output jack anyway, they all fell apart within the first month. Post some pics if you can!

I would try and open it up/ fix it myself, but this style of Ibanez doesnt have a back plate, in fact, there is no way to open up the guitar (from my view). The guitar is an Ibanez Artcore AGS83BZ series guitar. My first real electric axe.

If you need a guitar tech, there's a guy named Jeff at Maple Street Guitars. Most of the serious guitarists I know swear by him.

I know of a place in the Lenox area that does some minor repairs but dont know what their reputation is like. Im hoping its not going to be too expensive. hopefully, they stick the plastic insert thing in like Pete B's, but it better look decent!!!!

i dont think expensive strap locks are needed. go with the plastic ones, ive had them for years, no problem

as someone mentioned find a similar or complimentary color piece of plastic,wood or metal? (depending on what you have available to you, it could be as simple as cutting a piece of plastic into a nice oval sanding edges, drilling a hole and simply mounting the jack onto it. Scuffing the underlying finish and applying some cyanoacrylate..aka superglue..lol or you could shape wood.

While I think the artcores are one of the best values out there, having a luthier piece the wood back together could near a decent percentage f your original investment.

there is no electrical work involved, or skilled wood working so even if you have zero experience you should be able to tackle it!

after i posted that I took a look on ebay as I've been giving some thought to those artcores as i sold off my only hollowbody. I stumbled upon this..

which other than the crack is a beautiful guitar. I love the burst w/black binding.

I wonder if this is as prevelant as the gibson lp/sg neck cracking "issue"..

Maple Street Guitars is in Buckhead. Head north on Peachtree a few miles. Just past the Sports Authority, turn right on Maple Dr. It's right there.

They have several techs. All are good. Jeff is the one most of the professionals go to. It's worth taking it by there for an estimate. They usually give advice for free.
