I know of a great actor to be cast as an older Jerry... Paul Mazur, I saw him in a movie about Roger Maris (*61), he plays a sports writer, he looks like Jer without makeup, they could make him look like an older Jerry no problem, he would nail it.

Fabulous thread. I always thought Robin Williams would make a GREAT Garcia, and either Jeff Goldblum or Jeff Bridges as Weir. Ed Begley, Jr. IS Phil Lesh. I think Phil died years ago and Ed has been philling in for the last 3 or 4 years, actually . Pigpen would go to Paul Giamatti, IMO. The Roy Scheider as Neal Cassady is a GREAT call!!

Anyway, the only way to make the movie interesting enough to the general public would be Williams as Garcia (and I think he'd pull off the young & old versions) and Jim Carrey as Weir. But who wants to spend $60 million on 2 salaries?!@!!

OH MAN! I think if you put a white beard on that man with some rose-tinted specs, he'd be the perfect choice! Plus, he's good at impersonations, so I'm sure he could get that nerdish voice down-pat!!
