Interesting. That is one of my favorite discs for when I am running on a treadmill. Kinda helps the keep the energy level up for me. To each his own I suppose. Either way, that is a really solid disc.
When i work out i listen to Disc 1 of Nightfall a lot, feel like a stranger gets me fired up!
Nightfall? I am not familiar with that one, is that a DP? Or is it another band?

As a non-Phish fan, I'm just going to leave that one alone. :)
That's Fantastic, I agree. As for me i like to fall asleep to different stuff everynight. Stacey Kent, Coldplay, snatch sound track, miles, coltrane, last night i fell asleep to Bobby's b-day 1977-the Sugaree is just great

thats funny, i was just thinking today how much ive been listenin to the dead to go to sleep. ill play it all thru th enight and wake up to it too, which is always awesome. if not the dead ill play some coltrane, monk, mellow phish, mellow umph, even some moe or bisco or STS9 if im really tired and it doesnt matter if it isnt as mellow

The sweetest sounding music I can fall asleep to:

Her saying goodnight and leaving! Ahhh yes!!!

The ambient resonation of the door slamming behind her
The abrupt start up of the engine
The doppleresque sound of her driving away
Further, then further, then further, then asleep

Ahhhhhhhhh

Yanni...or Yawnie will do it every time.

Also Floyds "Wish you were here".

And of course ther is always the a capella version of "We bid you good night"!!!

I find Grateful Dead or pre-'96ish Phish or any other music that really moves me to dance can often prevent an easy transition to sleeping.

How about Beethoven's 3rd Symphony? That's a relaxing ear-stretcher.

Europe 72 (truckin-epilog jam) used to put my kids to sleep when they were little. They now have that same jam loaded on their ipod....hmmm

No, never heard the discs. Looking at the set lists online, I am pretty sure I wasn't at that show either. I'll keep my eyes open for it, thanks!

i dont really listen to much "normal" music when going to sleep.

Ambient techno - Aphex twin has a few such album i like

Nature sounds - I have this set that called Echoes of Nature combines natural sound like wind, rain, river, etc with slow ambient musical tones. there are plenty of otherrs like it

Harmonic throat singing - if your not familiar with it read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throat_singing It is amazing that people make these sounds with their voices, i first found it hard to believe. Great for sleeping or just thinking. I have one called Hearing Solar Winds but there are others by Tibetan monks and shit like that.

I know I enjoy the first part of these albums, but never seem to make it to the end.

one word, coldplay. i actually dont mind these guys but they have a special talent for making me fall alseep. i usually dont need music to fall asleep, but whenever i take a trip with loud people who never sleep coldplays the trick

Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer, and Russ Barenburg- "Skip, Hop, and Wobble" All instrumental acoustic bluegrassish stuff. A must have for conscience and unconscience listening!
