I am getting a tri-colored (Black, white, & brown) male collie pup this week and I am looking for a great Grateful Dead name.

I had a Blue Merle (blue-grey-white) named "Cassidy"
and now have a female sable (brown & white-like Lassie) named "Shannon" from Jack Straw.

Any ideas are welcome.

TIA,
jreif

I had this same issue about a year ago for our yellow Lab. The name she came with was Avalon. We kept that as part of her name (Avalon Ballroom, too good a coincidence to ignore) and added Lady (from Lady with a Fan). Of course we got her a red collar, so it's 'trouble ahead, Lady in red' all the time.

But I digress. Here's some suggestions:

Bobby
McGee
Jerry (my last dog was born the day Jerry died, so I had named him Jerry)
<favourite band member>
Stagger Lee
Stealie
Sage/Spirit
Casey Jones
RatDog
McGannahan Skjellyfetti

Some of the ones that I came up with...

Picasso Moon
Dark Star
Strider (Robert Plant's Dog)
Doo Dah
Ozzy (The kids picked that)
Casey (Jones)
Lightning (Lazy)
Pockey (Hey Pockey Way)
Aiko
Jack (Straw)

We have until Sunday. So if you have any other thoughts for a male, black/white/brown collie, we can add them to the list.

Thanks

we named our dogs magnolia and jed, and i gotta say they both took after the personalities of the singers of their respective songs...jed is laid back as hell, and magnolia is off the wall

if any one knows how to ill send a pic of the two of them with my dad
