Woah... Now this is my kinda tribute band!
'Just heard these guys for the first time, yesterday.
Very inspiring.
You know, when I see DSO, I'm always kinda thinking, nice job, good cover, I like DSO for all reasons... but man, this Illuminati CD really took me somewhere new, by way of the same tunes i've always loved. It is a live recording.
fwiw, I now understand the timing of the Jerry intro lick on MNS... It's a horn lick!...(why didn't Jer ever tell us that?... maybe he did and I missed it).
I felt great all day yesterday (spent the day on the slopes on Mt Hood, telemark skiing), just from listining to this CD on the way up.
There is very little guitar on it, so I will be jamming along with this one.

So what's the story on these guys?
I've never even heard of them before last week when the drummer from my Monday night JamBand workshop turned me on.
Very cool take on the GD Tribute factor!
I see they do a Terrapin trib, too.

That CD is pretty cool. It's been around for years---maybe 10?
I think Joe Gallant is the main guy and I believe there's another CD out there as well. I'm a bit hazy on the details but I think it's worth trying to find.
In a way, those guys were the original of "Jazz is Dead" and I like their stuff more than the actually band JID. Just my 2 cents..MT

I saw Illuminati in a double bill with Jazz is Dead 8 or 9 years ago at the Music Hall in Tarrytown, NY. (Great old theater, seats maybe 900) But I wouldn't call them a tribute band but rather an interpretive band. The songs were Dead but the music and the vibe were all theirs.

Great Album. Great Show.

I was at that show at the Knitting Factory in NYC where it was recorded.

I met and briefly hung out with Tom Constanten that night.

On the inside of the album, I'm in the crowd picture with my friend Shannon standing right behind TC.

Great memories!
