HELP! i have a fender twin rev 65 reissue and its making some awful noises. its like a hissing as, or after i hit a note. i took it to local shop and they plugged in and i didnt hear it one time, but almost every note i hit i hear it. it goes off an on. and we though it was a bad outlet becuz i play in my basement, but we ran an extension cord from upstairs to my room and it did the same thing, just less frequently PLEASE!

sounds like it may be parasitic oscillation.

many RIs have this problem which is why i advocate against.

not much you can do without investing $$$.

First off, not sure why you posted in tune submissions, but it must be because this problem has you totally rattled

I'm no expert, but here's something to start with: take the amp to another location (friend's house, work, etc.) and try it there. This will tell you if the problem is your amp or your house's electrical wiring. Also, try another guitar both at your home and at another location, because sometimes it's the pick-ups or something in the guitar. This way, you can at least narrow it down and make sure it's the amp. I had a similar problem and it was the reastat (sp?) lighting in my house and the single coil pickups. Hope this is some help.

I had a problem with my twin making a loud noise but it was really loud sounded like a fucking bomb going off. This happened right after i left the music shop with it was brand new. Took it to an amp specialist and it was a bad pre amp tube. Maybe this will help.

ALSO - Obviusly there could be many things; Before i sold mine, I started having this lous popping sound. Then no sound. Then it owuld come back on and be fine and then mess up again. It was a bad jack from the amp to the speaker box. Apparently that's a common flaw in the Reissues.

A malfunction occurring in some amplifier circuits, in which the device will feed back upon itself internally. The possible causes of this are numerous and can be complex (beyond the scope of a Word For The Day). In audio equipment, this may generate an ultrasonic signal that will occur only when an input signal is present and generally only during part of the audio waveform. Although the ultrasonic component isn't directly audible, its existence modulates the signal causing audible distortion, and is potentially damaging to tweeters. Tube amp circuits tend to be prone to more different variations of this phenomenon than most solid-state designs. Most modern audio amp designs incorporate circuitry to prevent this problem to the extent that it's generally not much of a concern these days.

I'd had problem after problem with my Super Reverb reissue until I just broke down, sold it as is and bought an original silverface with a blackface mod for much less than I paid for the reissue. It wasn't till after my own bad experience that I started hearing other folks with similar stories. Sorry to hear that your dealing with the reissue problems, too.
