ouch! I would either start looking for a new band in a hurry, or riposte by making an equally cheeseball novelty song demand of my own. How about that theme from "Greatest American Hero"? Or maybe... oh I dunno: "Junk Food Junkie"... or "The Moon and New York City".

I'm pretty much on the fence with this. If I loose the desire to play and just can't do it I'm not going to fight it. What in the world does a Weir like minded guitarist play and sing for non dead tunes anyway?

Well, you can always make the trip up to Portland to jam w/ me!!! I'd LOVE to jam w/ a Weir-minded guitarist, and we can play Dead, Dylan, and Phish all day long brother! To your hearts content!

On the flip side of this topic - we just had a VERY good practice yesterday. I've been in the process of putting together another band for the past few months and yesterday's combo of players was the best - it was really very good and a great day.

Thanks for helping in that search Shakedown - Toby was a very good drummer and a welcome addition!

Ahhh...glad to hear it. Best drummer I've ever played with, the kid can rip. I know he was unfamiliar w/ a few tunes, but give him a minute and he'll blow your mind.

Actually, I think the statement about you practice at home and reherse with the group is invaluable.
Also having a set of tunes to work on in the interum is key....
Now I just have to put it into practice!

And, sometimes it helps to have practice policeman as well.

I'm putting together a band on the south shore too. The guys I have found so far are not into the dead, but aren't opposed to it either, so we'll see how it goes. We're having fun jamming out things like Low Spark and Down by the River, though.

Band practices are funny things. I really try to arrive knowing my parts, or at least having a fair idea of how to play what I want. I also chafe a little when having to tell the chords to the same songs over and over. It is early yet for my band, though, and I don't think we're entirely settled on the players, so I try to take it all in stride and stay low key about it. I would love to find a Weir style player to join us, but haven't tried to find a second guitar yet. Anyone in SE Mass should feel free to PM me if this sounds like your cup of tea.
