The Grateful Dead were clearly a very iconic band, for starters their name has a mystical quality to it. Then we have the posters, the images of skulls, roses, bones etc and then we have the album covers! The Dead had some of the best looking album covers too. So the Dead always managed to project a stirring image through the use of imagery itself. All this without us even talking about the music or the lyrcis!!

But I was going to ask what is your favourites Grateful Dead Photo? Or you favourite photo of any of the band members?

The revamped GD site is full of great ones in the history archive section through the years.

There are some great photos around the internet, there is cool one I saw a while ago from the early 70's with Jerry, Mountain Girl with Neil Young.

But my favourite Garcia photo is one I've never been able to find on-line, it was a full A4 picture in the Garcia Tribute Book by Rolling Stone magazine. It's of Jerry sitting in a diner at a table full of food and drinks. I just love it. If you don't have that book then get it!

Well, here's a personal favorite. It was sent to me by a guy who frequented the site. He was (at least at the time, may still be) a news guy in Hawaii. He had an opportunity to interview Jerry while also enjoying a scuba dive.

i loved this picture which just got made into a shirt of jerry legs up on desk just noodling on a guitar. to me it just shows how much he truly loved to play anywhere.

I like two: The one of Jerry in the suit with the white fedora from Smoke and Cigarettes video shoot and one from a guy in Chapel Hill that he took of Jerry in his red shirt at Hampton that I had blown up to poster size and have in my room.
