Just wondering if there were any Deadhead Accountants/CPA's out there and if so, how bad is tax season kicking your ass?

im in school for accounting, I dont know for how long though haha, i might have to make the switch to Economics

I dunno man, if you're questioning it now I'd tell you to make the switch, it's kinda something you have to be gung ho for to put in the hours, especailly if you're gonna work for the Big 4. (I was luky enough to get a job doing the kind of auditing I wanted to do and it still blows big about 25% of the time.) Where do you go to shcool?

My wife is an accountant. For the last 10 years tax season was terrible. She put in 60-70 hours a week from mid-January to April 15th; forcing me to take care of the kids solo.

Thankfully, she took a senior financial analyst position at the hospital last December. No more tax seasons!

My point is, if you are not prepared to dedicate your life, 25% of the year, to long hours and hard work, change your goals now!

im at Georgia State University in my second year.

I am probably going to make the switch to Business Economics or finance in the next couple weeks though

Journalism is always fun too...

Box - The move your wife made is pretty much what I plan on doing, only a bit sooner. Got 1.5 years in now, trying to get my MBA/CPA and get the hell out into the private sector with a decent salary, ASAP. This is a means to an end, I'm not looking in anyway to become a partner, or even a manager at this point.

I work for a firm that has alot of our clients in the non-profit sector, so tax season doesn't suck as bad as it could, but with do get hit in the fall because thats when all the non-profits wrap up. So 60 is really my max, I hit 70 once in November.

I look at people with kids at the firm and I'm like 'How do you do this with a family??" I'm still young, single, have only a handfull of friends and live with my folks; and its still a huge time drain.
