Anyone have any insight, tips or direction on the vocal harmony sung by Bobby?

Weir sang the lower harmonies for the most part, I think.

With the exception of songs in which he sings lead, Bobby generally sings more middle-to-high harmonies. I sing those parts in the bands I play in and they can be difficult to find when listening for them. Honestly, on several occasions I've needed my girlfriend, a master of figuring out and singing harmonies, to help me find them.
No kidding! He is actually all over the place on tunes, but mostly mid to high. I struggle with Sug Mag during "she's got everything delightful, etc: as he takes the very high part there. Fun stuff though. Gotta love the Bobstar.

Once I heard a version of Truckin' that made me really laugh. Bob took the really high harmonics on the bridge I think (sometimes the lights.....) and I don't know why but Jerry and Phil just don' help him at all, maybe their mics were too low.

Over the years Bob got screwed badly by this...
There are plenty of songs Bob sings high harmony and Jerry would bail out on him. If you and all you have is 1 singer singing the harmony note - it doesn't sound good.

Bobs voice isnt that bad until he reaches for those really high notes, then it gets iffy haha

I remember Owsley talking about how pain staking their vocals use to be. They couldn't harmonize worth a damn. I think it was CSN that gave them training if I remember correctly.
To me if Bobby has lead vocals he harmonizes middle of the road?
If he's backup harmonizing he's up there in the tenor range.
I don't know how he does this. Some ball squeeze there.

Truckin' where Bobby sings the harmony and Jerry sings the main.
A bunch of Touchs were Jerry backs off the mic and all you hear is Bobby's harmony.
Ummm, a few passengers where Donna gets lost and all you hear is Bobby's harmony.
It's a dangerous thing when the main vocalist for a song since the harmony note...

Bobby's harmonies aren't THAT hard to get....some of them DO start below the melody and jump above the melody in the middle of a line - "Brokedown Palace" is a clear example of this.
On Scarlet Begonias, Bobby doesn't sing at all in the bridge part ("Well I ain't often right, but I've never been wrong...etc."). He DOES sing at the END of the song ("The wind in the willows played 'Tea For Two'...").
Anyway, I've been singing the Bob parts of GD songs for about 17 years now...don't have 'em ALL exact, but if you need help, I'm pretty sure I can get you started down the right path.
