I do have a question: Has this ever worked? The reason I ask is I am using Cakewalk to record direct to the PC / laptop. It serves it's purpose. However being a fan of new toys.... I'm curious of your opinion of Cubase with the Tascam interface.
With Cakewalk, I am running my guitar through various effects direct to the Audio input (Mic input) and hoping for the best. It is limiting in the fact that if I wanted to add effects to a track, I have to basically record the track over again with the effect in line. Lightning does not often strike twice, if you know what I mean.
This recording is all personal stuff, mostly for me to "Noodle" with when I am playing.
Are you recordiong for demo / production purposes?
Sorry about all the questions, I am going to seriously start digging, talking to sales people (Hardly) never provides me with real informaiton as they typically are tring to hit that mark ($).
Thanks and good luck in getting that rig working.
PEACE,
Phil
yes it has worked before. I actually have it working now...i'm recording for fun...was working on So Many Roads last night....i laid down the rythem section, lead, and tried to do the base line with my guitar but just sounds like another guitar....I NEED TO BUY A BASS NOW...
In regards to Cubase, In my opinion it is more than what i need. it is pretty advanced software. my brother gave me the set up for Christmas a few years back. Being a musician that records ofter he felt that Cubase w/ the Tascam interface was the best option....the only variable with the Tascam is how many inputs and simultaneous tracks you wish to have recording at once. My unit in particular i can record 4 tracks at once. it has 2 mic imputs and 2 guitar imputs.
Again, i'm not an expert on this stuff but i would imagine there are folks out here that can add to this and help you get in the direction you need to go.
I find that when purchasing anything, researching the product helps because most sales guys don't use the equipment they are selling and just need the commission but then again, don't we all!!

YOU KNOW IT'S GONNA GET STRANGER
