man, i hadn't heard mission in the rain in a couple years and then i hear it again and holy sh*t. i've just been rocking the studio version but jerry's voice in this song is so soulful and great. i've probably listened to it 100+ times in the past week. anyone else feel this way about this song? this has definitely all of a sudden become one of my current top 5 jerry tunes

3/18/78 does indeed smoke... even hotter imho is 6/18/78, which happens to include a great Mission (the huge highlight being a cover of Paul McCartney's "Let Me Roll It")
The Godchauxs were in JGB from Jan 76 to Nov 78. imho Donna sounded way better with Maria Muldaur handling the upper high harmonies in 77 and 78.

love this song! i heard it done by Melvin Seals' JGB on Jerry Day in SF. i was gifted a pot brownie and smoked out with my new friends for a while. the mission in the rain was just immense; it was a foggy SF summer day. lightly misting and the sound was just right in that natural amphitheater in Maclaren Park. ahhhh
