PS: Does anyone else know of any of the other cases of multiple same name Dead bands? I'm more than sure that there are plenty.

In Denver I played in a band called the Deadbeats. We ended up hearing from another band called the Deadbeats from Chicago and they were all pissed off that we were using their name. Turned out there was another Deadbeats in NY as well. Go figure...

I've been in the Chicago scene for over 15 years and never heard of them. Weird...

I don't think they've been active since at least the mid-90's... although there have probably been one-off revivals here and there. Last place I saw them was probably Brixie's around 97.

Mike, how long ago was that?? That's kinda funny in that former Deadbeat Scott Schwartz later moved from Chicago to Denver and did a stint as the de facto "Bobby" in Shakedown St in the 90's, then formed One Kind Favor (presumably as the "Jerry" since he's a smokin lead player). Former Chicago Deadbeat Pat Nevins turned up as the "Bobby" in Grapefruit Ed in the SF area.

Well it was in about '97 or so and it was actually Scott that had told us that the rest of his former band was pissed about it. Of course, we had never heard of them and we didn't change our name - we didn't see it as a big deal - nor did Scott. I've played a little with Scott, as well as with Shakedown - I filled in for Scott for a week when he had to go out of town - and Ted used to sit in with my band now and then. When he did we'd call ourselves the Tedbeats!

Ok - so I finally have another band put together and we are going through the impossible task of coming up with a name. Anyone have suggestions?

We are a Dead tribute - so we're going for a name recognizable by deadheads.

Haha - well, I don't know yet. I like some of the ideas though - there's some really great ones. in the next couple of weeks I'll get all the ideas together with everyone in the band and see what everyone thinks. Keep them coming though!
