My girlfriend just surprised me with this wonderful pictorial book (Between the Dark and Light) by Jay Blakesberg. There's only 1,000 copies and each one is signed but there's a lot of sweet never-before-seen stuff in it. It's probably not cheap either but it's a real great pictorial history and just a lovely thing to have for DeadHeads. There's also a foreword by Phil. I dont have a link for it but if you google it, I'm sure it will come up. Check it out!

Are you sure about there only being 1000 copies?? Maybe just 1000 signed copies? I've seen them in book stores so it can't be THAT rare. It's a really cool book- actually, it's a gaping hole in my GD library!!

How far back do the photos go? i.e. what year are Blakesberg's earliest GD photos from?

It starts with a few in 78, not too many though, most of the book is photos from the 80's and 90's. Blakesburg also has photos from post grateful dead concerts up until 03'

How does it compare to other GD photo albums like "The Illustrated Trip"?

the illustrated trip is great, I too would like to know how it compares.

I'll hit a book store in the next few days and let you know. If it is as good as people say i might have to pick it up.

Why do I always come up with Christmas ideas a day late?

i would say its definitely worth buying. Their is some very interesting stuff in the book, its not just strictly photographs, their is stuff written about each photograph and about the time period in which the photo was taken. Very cool stuff!
