What do you think is the longest period you've gone without listening to the Grateful Dead or Dead related stuff such as Garcia Band, Ratdog, Phil and Friends etc etc... ?

I've been a fan for a long time so I've gone for periods without listening to anything, not because I get bored but it's good to have a break from it and hear other stuff and then when you go back to it you appreciate it even more. So I'd say two or three months at the most, maybe more.

2 to three seems accurate. There have been self imposed dead breaks, and once a forced dead break(damn ipod )

christ pat, thats terrible. it's really ridiclous that they still send people to jail for pot possession.

wow, 1/2 gram and jail time, this country has some serious issues with priorities, and they'll seemingly never realize that first off, weed isn't as harmful as other substances that ARE legal, and treating drugs as a legal issue will never work. By making them illegal, they've essentially setup the entire system they're waging this "war" on. No illegality, no black market, no crime that corresponds with drug dealing/using, when will they figure this out? Also, when will they full realize that addiction is a disease, and they should treat it as such. anyway, sorry for the rant.
Longest I've gone without listening to the dead was probably 2-3 months a couple years ago. I had reached a point where I listened so much, knew so much, I had to venture out and rediscover other music I loved. I think i've found a better balance now.

Jail time!!!! I have a court date in 6 weeks for 6grams and paraphanalia. I hope jailtime isn't a possibility.

ya its pretty crazy, the first time was for an HP and now this is my 2nd in 4 years, i was 17 the first time i went in, and im being charged with a felony for possesion of a 1/2gram, up to 4 months in jail and 3 years paper as a plea agreement? not much of an agreement fuck the police!

but oh ya devil, if its first offense you should be safe, but it all depends where you live, im in a little rich suburb of milwaukee and a pot bust is like as good as murder elsewhere... good luck tho

It's pretty lenient in Amherst, we're all basically hippy veterans or druggy college students anyways. Some of my friends got busted a few weeks ago, they took their bowl and stash and notified their parents, the guys probably went and smoked the rest. Still sucks, but I guess it's much better than other places.
Earlier this year someone in my school got caught by the dean smoking in the bathroom and didn't get busted because the guy said he was too lazy to write them up

Longest time 1960 - 1981 which was when I discovered the Dead.

that would be the two months I was in jail for 1/10 of dmsters. could have been worse though at least i didnt have to do the full three years!
