"Southbound", and "Mustang Sally" a 20 minute omage.

It was hot, this has nothing to do with anything, but I had to get it off my chest.

I just moved into a house and set up a jam room in the basement, bought a cheap drumset that I'll never play, but that makes it easier to jam, a friend loaned me an old PA and now I have a list of lead players, drummers, and bass players and I call and get together with folks on a regular basis. We do Mustange Sally in C coming out of or going into southbound.

I play a simplistic funky type blues rythem.

it's a basic blues progression. ie. 2 bars on C7,
i bar on F7, one bar on C7, half bar G7, half bar F7, 2 bars in C7. repeat.

the bass line is fun to dance around:

please be with me is an exellent tune, I'n not sure who wrote it. Duane Allman played with derek and the dominoes. I believe he provided the harmonies on layla, so I'd imagine they played the song together.

I haven't really delved into Duanes solo career much. I've mainly studied the harmonies between duane and dicky. I've been fooling around with my slide bar for a while now, and i feel it's time to start deling into duanes world more.

I must confess, I don't really know the intro and what not. I learned this tune on stage, they told me the chords, i played rythem and took a solo. I've never delved into it any deeper as I prefer the mountain jam. but i can tell you what I know.

The soloing is mostly the blues whole tone scale in E. being E, F#, G#, B, C#. the main area it's played in is around the 9th and 12th frets.

I use exclusively bar chords for the E, A and B. For the solo, it's all E and A. I play the leads around the D, G and B strings on the 9th and 11th fret mostly. No time to tab out some of it...sorry.

As for Jessica, check out Guitar World issue Holiday 2005 isse because it has a full interview with Dickey and how to play Jessica (tabbed out) and it comes with a CD that has a video lesson on how to play it with Dickey showing you! Plus, his son plays the other guitar parts! It's well worth finding.
