yeah, he can play any song he wants to, BUT. . .
there is a point where i just want to hear a f*#@n Estemated or Greatest Story. I do think that the reemergence of Rat-dao is because he is playing more Jerry tunes, I know that is why I go to see him more. If i hear Slip I might Fall one more time

so go see the darkstar orchestra if you want a well played jer song

bob had a beard back in 74
Yes he did.....kept that one trimmed and looked MUCH better......just MHO
IamDocWatson wrote:its because steve kimock is limited to the songs he knows...more jerry tunes than bob
Don't know about this one. They've played plenty of Bob's tunes throughout the tour....so he either knows'em, or he don't
IamDocWatson wrote:up until this tour it was rarely more jerry tunes than bob....more bob tunes a few covers and a few ratdog originals
I can't speak from a point of fact on this, just over the last few times I hve seen him, seems like more and more Jerry, less and less Bob.
IamDocWatson wrote:besides who do u want to hear do these tunes??
no one??? joan osborn??hahah...phil??lol he sucks at singing and his band is not tight
I've actually not ever caught a P&F show, but as I said, I don't have an issue with him doing any of the songs.

i was just thinking :-)
isnt it kinda wierd to care about how some man wears his beard?? unless he is your husband?? :-)

and also ...
u just gotta get to more shows...bob rewards his more dedicated and touring fans...
if u go see a few shows per tour your gonna get your estimated your looks like rain black throated playin's music's etc...

he keeps a large songbook and trys to limit his repeats through tours...so if u go to one show hopin to hear all the bob bangers...every setlist would have to be the same to satisfy those people everynight.

also bob says he thinks about jer every time he picks up a guitar...it probably makes him feel good to play these songs...

and lastly why do we all play jerry tunes...
hunters lyrics are sick...jerrys progressions lend themselves to melodic leads..and people love the tunes...at least bob was in the band they came from...were all just covering them for fun

well, I think I said this before.....I'm too old (and to settled with family and responsibilities) to go "on tour" so that I can be "rewarded" for my 30 plus years of loyalty.

And again, I am not saying that Bob does not have a right to play any song from the GD catalog, or any song he wants to, for that matter.

I here u man. dont get me wrong i love em, but Bob and Phil should hang it up...

there will NEVER be a show by Ratdog or Phil n friends even matchable to a decent Dead show ( with Jerry)

look, the bottom line is, Jerry WAS the dead, and its difficult for any remaining members to play a song that was a cover that they did with jerry, or an original that they did with jerry. let alone a song that JERRY SANG!

Jerry was the brains and backbone of the band we all love known as The Grateful Dead.

I dont wnat to here bobby sing these tunes at all... Theres no possible way u can here a tune that jerry did as good as he did anymore.

hes gone, and nothings gonna bring him back

what??? let them play, i'm sure jerry could careless.

tho i didn't like the ratdog show i went to I wouldn't say they shouldn't play jerry songs, thats just crazy.

also i'd take plf over ratdog anyday, imo.

Absolutely hate this statement. That's not something a fan of the Grateful Dead says.

Proof? For the amount of time JG spent with his club bands & reclusive on his binges it doesn't seem likely.

Yeah Warren, I'm not really sure if I am the "u" you are referring to, but if I am.....then I don't think you really did hear me.

I don't believe that Bob & or Phil need to hang it up.

And on another point, one day you won't be seeing Bobby or Phil so enjoy what you see now rather than complain he plays too many Jerry songs.

For us who dig going to live shows it would truly suck if Phil or Bobby "hung it up" they are master musicans who love their art and continue to share it with the world...their work continues to grow and change...It would be a shame if they stopped making great music for us to continue to enjoy. I don't think they will...I don;t think they CAN! It's who they are...It's in their blood...Their heart-their soul...the ability to create-to be challenged is something artists thrive on. One Example-Picasso was still painting well into his 90s...Oh and isn't Les Paul stil gigging?
