Excellent!!! I knew you had good taste. This confirms it. :)

Alongside Delicatessen, in the same vein, I would recommend Peter Greenaway films. The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover is the best of his films I think. Make sure you get the unedited version though. Drowning by Numbers (again by Greenaway) is another one of his more accessible films.

We had a discussion on here for movies before, I remember because I got some props for throwing in Eraserhead, but I think spacehead33 was talking about the whole 60's music and hip society type of thing. There are some great suggestions entered and I'm not for narrowing the field but Eraserhead and the Festival Express are not very related except maybe the state of mind you get into to watch them.
By the way 'Slingblade' is one of my favorites, but probably not what the author was looking for.

Requiem for a Dream might be the best movie on drugs ever made, though its NOTHING like F&L. Where HST showed an almost glorified drug use (at times), Requiem shows drugs at their very very worst. One of the few movies I've seen in the last few years that really affected me. When I was done watching Requiem for Dream, I felt like I got kicked in the gut.

requiem is one of the most painful disturbing films i have ever seen, it was like the worlds worst acid trip while sober. chilling stuff with a message i've seen a millon times on here STAY AWAY FROM THE WHITE STUFF

Someone mentioned Pulp Fiction. Id have to say thats probably my favorite movie aside from National Lampoon's Vacation. Blow was great too. And of course the Big Lebowski.

Everyone thinks that but I think its his second best. Hang Em High being the all time best.

No way. The Outlaw Josey Wales is the best Eastwood western. Fistful of Dollars is my favourite of the spaghetti, man-with-no-name westerns.

But the best western is The Wild Bunch. Treasure of the Sierra Madre is another classic western I just recently saw. I've been in a big western kick lately.

patton our uber conservative history teacher made us watch this and i can say without a shadow of a doubt patton is a badass. great stuff when that guy blocks the bridge with the mules
