I dont know what it is but Loser has always for some reason sounded better in my opinion as a cover by other artist. I was at RFK when Cracker did it and thought it was fantastic. Something about that tune that others just get into it more than the boys ever did. Like I said this is my opinion only but this did not surprise me,

I love when other artists do the Dead.Crackers been doing it for years.I've never heard anyone do Loser better than the Dead.To me its one of Jerry's signature solos.
