Im gonna see Ratdog when they come back up to the Palace Theater which is an awesome place to see a show. I mean there isnt a bad seat in the house and the place rocks. Ive seen Moe. there before. And Ive gotten to see Trey and Phriends featuring Phil Lesh and now Ratdog is coming around. Sweet. Im a huge Karan fan though. Ill miss him. But Kimmock is no slouch.

Alright guys I think we are giving the kid a little too hard of a time here. Just becuase he is friends with a kid that has had a sketchy posting history doesn't mean we have to give him shit right off the bat. Welcome to the forum, there is a lot of GREAT information and people here. I have really grown as a musician with the help of the more experienced posters on this site like- Tigerstrat, Strumin', shakedown, bill, ed, jackstraw, ect. They have been on this site helping for a long time and sometimes it can be really frustrating for them to see the same posts and questions over and over. So a word of advice is "if you have a question, look through the forum to see if an answer has already been given before you post. Also don't just post for the sake of posting and getting a new avatar.

To the subject at hand. Ratdog has been absolutly on a tear for the last 4 years. They have found there stride and after mark k. got sick they slipped (very slightly) imo but still are one of the best shows around. I recommend everyone go see them.

Shakedown I don't want to hear one negative thing from you for atleast another 5 years. You got phil, ratdog, red sox, pats, BC, even the bruins won last night. God has been smiling on the north east.

I hear ya Augustwest, but I've got a sneaky feeling we're not dealing with 2 different people here. I think we're dealing with the SAME poster, just using a different screenname. Lots of similarities w/ the persona, type of posts, and gramatical errors. Look close, you'll see what I mean. So my bad for coming across harsh, but there's reasoning behind it. I don't just come out firing my six-shooter for nothing.

Back to Ratdog - I agree w/ you 110%. They were on fire last night, and it's the first show of the tour!

They broke out a smokin' version of Dire Wolf (first time played!) and you can view it on their website at http://www.ratdog.org. What a great show!

And yeah....go Sox, Pats, Eagles, C's, et al! It's a great time to be a New England sports fan!

1. Im a huge fan of Help>Slip>anything but Franklin. Not a huge fan of the song is all. I was actually thinking of some different songs to go into from H>S but GDTRFB didnt occur to me. I was thinking a real mind fuck like H>S>Ripple.

i'm really debating seeing Bobby when they come to Albany.
I've seen Ratdog about 25-30 times and they really have gotten a ton better. Its just after seeing Phil in Glens Falls with Trey, I don't think Ratdog could hold a candle to that show. Prior to that show i would have definitely said that Ratdog was the more consistent band. I think i am now just coming to appreciate Phil's approach to the music. To keep the door revolving and see what comes out of it.

I'll probably catch some flac, but i do plan on going to see DSO at the Egg in November!!!!

I am still buzzing from that show at the Civic Center. What was best about it is that even though the place wasnt packed the people who were there were really a part of the show. Phil was def loving the vibe. And of course the return of Trey and possibly the best ever set list as far as story telling goes. Funny thing is the post star did an interview with phil before the show where they asked him how he thought up set lists and his response was something like: "we want it to tell a musical story, to all be connected in some way". And Phil orchestrated that show wonderfully. Viola<Cumberland>Viola>Cumberland>Viola? Thats insane. Then you get Dark Star>Wharf Rat>Dark Star and just when you thought you were done you get Help>Slip>Franklins.

Well it sure was. I dont know if any show I ever see will live up to that. Of course I never got to see Papa Bear . . . .

But Id like to check out the egg . . . . I wish Bobby was playing there though.

Well, let me tell you-- I got to see the Real Deal(GD) about 25 times from 1988-1995. And that civic center show was better than anything i saw after 1993. It truly was a magical night full of amazing music. It was definitely the best post 1993 Grateful Dead show i have seen from any lineup!!!!!

So you got to experience something as close to the real thing as possibe imho. Even better than -- TOO, The Dead, Ratdog, or any other Phil lineup yet!!!!

What I really liked about the Help>Slip>GDTRFB is that I usually don't like Ratdog doing GDTRFB because it's almost always at the end of the night, and you know it's coming - it's kin d of a let down. Here, sandiwched in the first set, right out of the gate, was an awesome surprise and treat - really made the song fun for me. I knew Franklins wasn't coming, but I wasn't expecting GDTRFB; I don't think anyone was. And THAT'S what I love about these shows - you can't ever tell.

For the first show of the tour, they were fucking ON. Very tight, great energy, crowd totally into it - it seemed like everyone had missed Ratdog for so long that they were so happy to get to see them again - it was that kind of energy/buzz in the place. Very cool.

SOTM was great - we got real close during the "Stuff" so we were gith there for SOTM. Bobby sang it really well and went off at the end (ala Jerry) to the delight of the crowd. Everyone kept cheering, egging him on to keep doing the "be with you" part, and Bobby happily obliged. I would suggest going if you can, for no other reason than because you'll have a blast and leave with your cheeks hurting from smiling. Hey, there's gonna come a day when you won't be able to see Bobby any more, and at least this way you won't go "dammit...I wish I had seen them that time in ......"
