Jer goes through quite a bit of noodling on 3-5-94 with his octave (boss) and III before launching into Stranger. The effects are very clear. You can stream a SBD of the show on archive.

Almost any Fire On The Mt. will feature a decent helping of Envelope + Octave in the solo sections.

Seeking rec's for the Best Of... the "almost any..." thing, I guess.
('tried to avoid using the Best Of thing by using "Quintessential").
Like, Oh Man, there is a ton of them, but ya gotta hear this one.

Pull up some Eddie Brickell and the new Bohemians shows and check out some Kenny Withrow on What I Am and some of the jams ... he is tasty

4-24-78 Fire on the Mountain - usually on a lot of fires, Jerry will turn down the wah effect while soloing and just solo on an overdrive. the jams in this one are mutron all the way and theyre fucking amazing. Also at the end Jerry yells out "Let it burn! let it burn! Let it burn!

10-9-82 Estimated Prophet - just the sweetest jam Ive heard on this song

Just listening to 4-24-78 Fire on the Mountain, as reccomended above.

So... when I was in High School, a friend had this portable cassette unit that had a button on it that he had labeled "Donna Filter" (a treble cut, basically, but it did the trick!).
This version leaves me wishing for a Bobby "Slide Filter".
Thanks for the rec, and yes, Jer does some nice Octave/Mu, especcially in that middle solo section.
thx!

Great Stuff!
To my ear the Stangers are leading the Fires on the juicy, in yer face, Octave/Mu factor.

I like to use this view to cruise Archive shows by year:
http://www.archive.org/browse.php?colle ... field=year

Keep the kind Octave/Mu nugs comin' if you hear a good one in your travels (thanks in advance for providing links).

I was listening to Fillmore East 2-11-69 last night, the late show, and I could have sworn the whole band was being played through a Phaser, especially on Dark Star>St. Stephen> The 11....

On re-examination, they were not. :D :D

does anyone know what effect that guitar player is using on What I Am, is it a mutron?
