Being that i am 28 i only saw the dead 3 times so by the time i saw them in 94 they were pretty sloppy.

My Top 3

1. 4/3/1998 (Phish)
2. 12/13/97 (Phish)
3. 9/14/98 (John Schofeild, Medeski, Wood and Stublefeild, i forget why billy martin was not playing drums with them...,but what made this show # 3 on my list was that Charlie Hunter opened which was amazing as well, and hearing schofeild and medeski jamming together was mind blowing.

Tom Petty "Southern Accents" tour. Horn section, Black chick backup singers...you can't ask for more.

DSO? Really? Does music really suck that bad that a GD cover band is your best concert? Or are you guys just getting started on going to shows? I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand.
I found that with most people (myself included), that your first show, no matter who it seems to be, almost always stays close to the top of ones list. Thought?

First I'll just say that the worst JGB or grateful dead show were still better than everything else. That being said, I will move on to other.

Robben Ford - Bottom Line NYC. about 50 people there, Sting (who is a big ford fan) was sitting at the table next to me and got up and jammed with robben for a few tunes.

So many but here are a few:

Bob Dylan at The Erb Memorial Union in Eugene. 800 people, Dylan in top form. One of those rare shows where he announced the show Thursday for the following Monday. I was online behind Kesey for tickets. He did the first Down Along the Cove!

Bruce Springsteen at Greensboro Coliseum, 1981. The River tour. If you didn't see him on this tour, you can't possibly understand

The Rolling Stones, Hampton 1981. Keith's Birthday. Thorougood opened. 30 feet from the stage. We went because we thought they were old and wouldn't be around much longer!

Tom Waits: Hult Center, Eugene. Tom never disappoints

Elvis Costello: Duke, forget the year. He did Ship of Fools/Must've been the roses/ship of fools, but it was his own shit that floored me, along with his band/voice

The Who in Vancouver, BC. '89 (I think). 12 row center. They were amazing

The Dead gave me so many but I will stick with Richmond, '85 (the one that they made a Dick's Pick of) Even though a friend was busted and I spent all night trying to get her out of jail, it was still incredible

Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park. Free. Lovin it!

Patti Smith at the Fillmore. Opened with Paint it Black. At the end of the show, she was holding up her stringless Strat screaming: "This is the weapon of our Revolution!!" over and over. Powerful show

Little Feat, Carmichael Auditorium, Chapel Hill, '79
Lowell George. I never heard of them, but was dragged to the show. What an awakening!

Neil Young (with Patti opening for him), the Gorge in Washington. It rained, but that didn't stop anything. Made it into Neil's movie.

Yes in the round, with all their members, Portland OR early '90's. Steve Howe blew me away, doing his acoustic stuff (clap/mood for a day) while just walking around the stage. Such a great sound, such great musicians.

Cool, can you tell us more about this? It's kind of a forgotten time for Neil as far as many people are concerned. Was the show with Crazy Horse, on the Life tour?
