When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Ok, so I've taken a real shine(punny) to a Gov't Mule song called Endless Parade. If memory serves, its the final track off the album of the same name.

Problem is, as much as I noodle around with it on guitar, I just cannot figure out what Key it is in. My best guess is Bb.I'm a touch musically challenged unfortunately.

If anyone could tell me what key this song is in, or even better, write out some chords.

Anyways, chords or no, everyone listen to this song if you haven't heard it. It's got some classic Haynes blues licks.

Not familiar w/ the song, but maybe your problem is that it could be in a different tuning?G?E?Good luck...

I dont think it is an open tuning. I dont have my guitar with me to play along to be sure but I just listened to it on youtube.

Sounds like a simple minor blues proggression or just alternating the I and IV chords anyway. So try again but use minor chords. (minor 7ths most likely).

I love this song, too.

I hate retuning my guitars so I play everything in standard. I'm pretty sure Warren is tuned down a half step to Eb.

The song is in Cm.

The intro and verse just rock back and forth between a Cm (8th pos) and Gm (8th or 3rd). The little pre chorus ("everything you've ever wanted...") goes from Fm to Bb/D back to Cm. (Bb/D is a cool chord, yes? It's just the inside 4 strings of a 3rd pos Gm). The chorus ("the circus came to town...) goes fron Eb to Bb/D to Abmaj7. Some cool double stops on the top two strings and you're back to the Cm. There's a bridge, too (music, music, music) but I can't remember how it goes. I'm sitting here at work without a guitar or the song to work from.

To play along with warren you'll have to tune down, or just play these chords a half step lower.

Have fun! Hope this helps.

Sweet. Thanks a bunch. I'll try it out when I get off work. Afternoons on a friday are pretty dull around here. I should start bringing a guitar. 8)
