What's a good 73-74 china doll? Like the ones the are in a segment with eyes/in the second set. This is a song that in the past i have typically skipped but lately i have a new love for it. It's a beautiful tune with an amazing ending. I'm just lookin for a real momorable one.

Thanks

Nuff said? There is no China Doll in the GD Movie. Perhaps there might be more to be said?

I don't know about memorable- none ever seem to stand out to me in particular, but try 2/15/73, 4/2/73, 6/24/73 or 11/11/73

Agreed...not in GD movie...IMO the quintessential China Doll is in the studio on Mars Hotel

it might just be me, but i never get too impressed by a performance of China Doll. What does it for me is the spot on the setlist. DS > Eyes > Chinadoll, like in the 11/11/73 that TS mentioned, is a hell of a sequence.

Soundtrack man. Not talkin the DVD.

And yes 11/11/73 is excellent as well. So is the one from 5/26/73 that someone else mentioned.

I like the acoustic version on 'Reckoning'. Especially when the band belts out that 'just a little nervous from the fall' line.

The Eyes outro jams of 73 & 74 are a different composition from Slipknot. There are 2 (or 3?) jam snippets from 1974 that more closely resemble Slipknot "whip" licks, but the dates escape me at the moment (one in Feb and one in July?)... but they are just fragments.

I wonder if slipknot came from those

I believe 9-7-73 is one of em. It does the little diminished buildup. Also has alot of nice licks throughout that one that are in the Dead Movie version.

I just checked out 9/7/73- I hadn't listened to it in quite awhile, although I remembered it being a really great show.

This is no Slipknot tease, nor are any signature Slip riffs present; it's a really HOT Eyes outro, despite a couple of the segments being shorter than usual and having a slightly "corner-cut" feel... also they seem to get slightly bewildered or "stranglulated"* leading up to the common Eb riff, but that only seems to add to the ecstacy when they do break into joyous unison.

The 1974 Slipknot teases (or seedlings?) are from 2/22/74 (in the Playin) and 2/23/74 (in The Other One); not sure why I thought there was one in July.

*- new word!

Check it out again please. Listened this morning and found it at 10:45. Love how he just crunches out the chords after that at like 11:15 or so. But yes he does do the little Slipknot diminished whip. And yeah I love how he fools around with that Eb riff for a while before they all come in.
