For four straight cds, Jim Lauderdale has put out some of my favorite stuff in the past five years. The first one I bought was Headed for the Hills, because Hunter wrote the lyrics. What a great cd!
Then, about a year ago he put out two cds at the same time. One is closer to the bluegrass realm, and one is closer to country/honky-tonk. I just can't get enough of this guy's stuff. I ran into the cd store today, and picked YET ANOTHER new release. It's really quite fantastic. The recording itself is really great, and the music is first-class. I checked his website, and he's got two more cds coming out in the next nine months. One is a collaboration with guitar-god James Burton, and the second is another disc with Hunter-penned stuff. Hot damn!
Big recommendation to fans of country & melodic songwriting. What an American treasure this guy is....
