hey thanks to everyone here that helped me decide... I am the proud new owner of a Gibson Faded SG Special (Worn Cherry)... compared it to 5 other guitars slightly higher in price and this guitar beat them all hands down.. IT SCREAMS... bought it yesterday and sat in last night with Magic Bus (Chicago-based GD tribute band).. I LOVE IT!

I got the same guitar, gotta bear sticker twards the bottom . I was thinkin about an alligator, tiger, rosebud, but bear worked best. Thinking about installing a vibrato. It is a really great guitar

Ha, I also have the same one! Congrats! Love that guitar. I know I'll continue to play it even after the hollowbody arrives; such great tone, and I still have the stock pups in, they sound great.

Dude, I just bought a Gibson SG Faded also! I got mine from musiciansfriend.com for 579.99. I got it because I wanted an SG but didn't want to play $1,000 +. The guitar is freekin' sweet! The action is low but not too low that it buzz's. Also the strings were brand new, and in perfect tuning, right out of the box. Sorry if this sounds like a review on amazon.com but I cant get over how great this guitar is.

when i was 16 i ordered the same guitar. they sent me the jet black one. oh well. i would suggest installing new tuning keys, as i found that the gibson keys simply fell apart. i loved that guitar, it survived being kicked down a flight of stairs, falling over a million times, new tuning keys, locking nuts and about everykind of scratch and chipped paint you can imagine. i learned everything on it for years. unfortunetly our practice space was robbed and away it went. me and my bass player get to the space to see someone putting our guitars in his trunk. my bass player grabs the guy and beats the shit out of him. the driver floored it and got away. the cops came and arrested my friend for the fight and let the theifs go. the police never followed up on the robbery, we tried and tried and tried to get them to go search these peoples house but to no avail. what a crock. enjoy the gibson.
