Cool. I love it. Jerry's first tune after Bob's Promised land opener is a long trippy Birdsong. Then a Bob tune and Jerry Breaks into a great China/Rider...Oh, it's gonna be one of "Those" nights! I hope you enjoy it. Ater years of snobby heads extolling the virtues of '72, I am really finally starting to get hooked on it myself. I always knew it was good but man! I dare say that next to '77 it's their most consistently good year and gets out "there" in a way that '77 never did.

For me i'm a bit partial to 71 and 72 because thats when i first started to see them...right now i'm listening to DP11 from 72 at the stanley theatre... Great dark star into cumberland blues...I've said it in another post i think thy are tighter with just one drummer...anyway thanks again!

the DP36 'Birdsong' is my favorite version I have heard so far.....the 'Dark Star'> 'Morning Dew' also is ridiculous. Just about as good as music gets!!

Another thing about DP36 I just realized is that the NFA>GDTRFB>NFA on disc 4 is simply fantastic. The lead Jerry does in GDTRFB right before the final vocals is completely off the hook. I've listened to this a bunch in the last couple of days and it never fails to make me get that shit-eatin' grin if ya know what I mean. Highly recomended listening folks!

Well it arrived today (DP36)...I'm astounded!...Freakin Far out!...Yeah the Dark star into Dew takes my breath away...Just finished Disc 3, now i'm gonna listen to it in sequence LOUD!!..Thanks again Bo for the reccondmendation..it made my week!

bo diddley. have you ever heard the gdtrfb from 8-22-72??? i don't know how it compares to the one you're talking about, but it just might be my favorite jerry solo in 300 shows. the energy is as high as the hard to handle from 8-6-71, but the technicality and pure musicianship is head and shoulder above that solo. bobby screams in pure ecstasy after it.

i'm assuming its similar to the one from dp 36

Last night I discovered the Great 1/2 hour long Dark Star from 9-24-72 featured in the Taping Section at DeadNet last week. So anyway about 15 minutes in I was pretty tired and thinking "This is really good, but nothing I hadn't heard before as far as Dark Stars go." then around the 15 minute mark they start this incredible spooky jam that slowly builds into one of their apocalyptic freak outs. They have a truly unque thing going on the last 10-15 minutes.
I can't believe I've never heard this on before. Holy Freaking shit!

Also in last weeks taper's section don't miss the super fast Slipknot>Franklin's from 9-24-76. Some great work done by Keith on that.

Yes, BigRiverBum, I just gave that GDTRFB from 8-22-72 a listen. Excellent indeed. If ya like that and get a chance listen to the one from 9-21-72, not as long but I think it's more intense. Jerry's licks are just insane!
