Ok, I usually stay away from the "favorite this or that" or "best this or that" because, quite frankly, it's a matter of opinion, and like TS stated in another thread, everyone's got one, so it's kind of a moot point.

HOWEVER - I am breaking my rule of thumb because I just have to say that I think Built To Last is the most well-done album they made. The tracks are so perfect and it sounds as live as a Dead album could, IMHO. Since I got my new iPod (thank you to the folks here who answered my many questions & helped me get that thing going, btw!), I've loaded a bunch of stuff into there so far and a few tunes have come up from Built To Last (I usually hit random song & go). and I have really been impressed with how well the arrangements on there are.

I'd also like to say that I think Brent is by far and away the best "recording artist" in GD history. That is to say I think the songs he recorded on their albums are better than anyone else's (sans maybe Touch, that was a good effort by Jer). He seems to be the most "radio-friendly" or "album quality" out of the bunch, and I think his songs came across really well on all 3 albums he did (was also listening to Go To Heaven, and he did really well on there too). I also think the boys sound superb on his tracks, better than most.

I guess Brent just had a better knack in the studio? I dunno, it just seems more natural and easy, where some (maybe most) of the Dead albums seem fake, forced, or tweeked to the point of being cartoonish (like how a lot of Jerry's vocals on many album tracks have been processed, etc.). Ok, I'm done. Thanks.

Studio...American Beauty-once actually kept me from going over the edge after ingesting a little too many mics...was having a real rough go of it when someone dropped AB on the turntable...i immediately felt better and with each song i mellowed a little more...i said to a friend "who are these guys?'...shortly thereafter went to my first show...

Studio is probably Anthem of the Sun, if only for 'Thats it for the Other One'. I love Jerry's intro and outro so much on that, and its skipped so often live that almost every time I come across a "The Other One" or a Cryptical Envelopment on a live disk, I have to put on Anthem shortly their after just to hear it complete

And my favorite Live disk would probably be Hundred Year Haul, probably just because Bertha is so good

Really not a bad track on it, and you have the bare essentials, as well as Pig Pen and Merl Saunders.

Me & My Uncle is so incredibly tight, Wharf Rat (back when Jerry could sing it), Bertha when it was straightforward no nonsense, and the other great songs that are timeless versions.

This album displayed really well that Garcia tone of high note distortion (NFA/GDTRFB) that was a phenomenon that you had to hear live, that at the time really put Garcia on the map as having incredible style and technique.

Definitly bears picks, which has some amazing acoustic songs like the monkey and the engineer and a great dark hollow, it was also the first album to use the dancing bears logo.

They played it the whole way through untill 70, I think. Check out the one on Fillmore 69, that's my favorite.

For favorite album righ now I'm going with either skullfuck or Steal Your Face, since I can't say the GD movie soundtrack.

By the way, how do you do the quotes so that it says the person's name and not "quote". Just wondering.
