well, i'm a junior here at the university of iowa and i just got a job at the radio station (KRUI) hosting my own grateful dead hour. i just started, so they have me working the graveyard shift, but i figure it's worth it, anytime i get to share the dead with other people its a good time, send some good vibes this way.

I went to WestConn and they have (or had) a great radio station there....WXCI. My uncle got me interested because he did that in college. The only problem with it being a great radio station was that the people involved were serious about radio......which meant ya couldn't just come in and play what you wanted. It was the mid-80's and they had a "New Music" format........song rotations, the whole nine yards......and they didn't like me a whole lot with my "what do you mean I can't play the Stones?" attitude.

But I perservered, I enjoyed it, and eventually got a Sunday afternoon show called the Permanent Wave where I got to play 50s-mid70s (including the Stones and yes, Grateful Dead).

In the end I got them really good. I wrote up a case for a Frank Zappa show which was indisputable......and got it.

Zappa would love that you had to write a case for him. Y'know, he let his kids do whatever they wanted, so long as they could convince him that he should let them.
