Not sure how many of you are familiar with the Oregon Country Fair, but it ain't your momma's County Fair, I'll tell you that! Nestled in the woods, about a half hour from Eugene, it is the ultimate hippie experience. 3 days of crafts, food, and music and all in the woods along a river. There is no electricity (except for generators so people can play electric music) and each day about 15,000 people come, but there is another 10,000 who work it to make it happen.
Anyhow, I work the Fair and after hours (Fair goes from 11-7) is when the fun really begins. In the past, I've run into Vince Welnick, Kesey, Mountain Girl, Donna, etc. This year, on a small stage, at about 1am, playing with friends of mine was Billy! The Vida Girls are a rockin' band, and Billy was helping out on percussion. It was fun to see him up there, especially with folks I know, and my friend Steve, who was playing bass, was telling me he felt like Phil and that Billy was giving him that look he'd seen Phil get at shows. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait til next year!

my best friends brothers are in the act Nanda which appears at the fair regularly. She goes to the fair every year, and I'm planning a road trip up there in two years.

Just wondering if you happened to see my brother in-law, Mark Henson's booth. He is there every year..
Yeah, I don't know him, but everyone at the Fair know's his artwork. It's pretty intense! Large, too. I like it but some of it scares me.

Yeah, I've seen Nanda and they're fun! I've been doing the Fair for 20 years or so, I used to fly from the middle of Dead tour out to the Fair and then back to shows! I highly recommend it. Once you've been, you'll want to figure out a way to stay for the nighttime festivities. It's an incredible time. I'm still buzzing from it.

I must have missed him! I was only there for a couple hours on Sunday. Seemed more commercial than "social forum" to me, though I did meet a few new ideas. I caught Wavy Gravy, too. If I'd had more time, I would have spent more time with a single band.

Jared, no one knows who you are! I saw your name in the Peach Pit credits. By the time I got out to Eugene and got my head on straight, I knew you were at the Fair and did not have access to the Internet.

Billy??

What'ya mean, no one knows who I am? Maybe you didn't ask the right people  I didn't catch Wavy, but he did laugh at us during our pink parade! Also, I saw Jimi. What a hoot. Sorry I missed you. Next time, call.

I must have seen you if you were in the parade. It's not easy looking for a Deadhead at the Fair? Maybe?
