Man what a song, I just herd Yonder's Cover of it and its amazing. It almost compares to Garcia Hunter's Version.

Seriously though this song moves me. I just got it down last night on my guitar and am now working on my banjo licks for it. I am so going to have our band cover this song.

The best part is the chorus, I love those lyrics they just say so much with so little detail.

Yeah bluegrass all the way, on our off weeks sometimes the guitarist and I will do some shows or opem mic nights at local clubs and coffe shops doing just our Dead covers. Its great I never relised how many people really do enjoy the dead. Even the ones that have never herd them before, or should I say never herd more than Touch of Grey heh.

Yeah man I really really dig Grass is Dead, they have a really cool kinda melo sound to them but them also that can really pick it up.

Yeah, thats right I forgot that you were from Wisconsin, we should for sure get together, these past few weeks have been crazy but now its dying down, I work 8:45 to 5:15 everyday, and weekends off. So if I'm not jamming with my band I am for sure up to jam with a fellow Grateful dead lover heh.

You can e-mail me here or at [email protected].

Thats my home e-mail. so let me know so we can set something up .

remember under other bands, outtakes, the bands initials are YMSB so its under that file name i believe, this may have been stupid but somebody couldnt find it the other day because they were looking for YONDER MOUNTAIN not the abbreviated name

Nice song. Nice chord changes.

Nice version if a little over-produced on the studio version from Cats. But Jerry did some nice live versions on acoustic with Kahn on bass.
