Bear. A quite extensive article about Owsley. Worth the price of the mag IMO. He talks a lot about his time spent with our boys. Never realized he was such a recluse. Poor guy has throat cancer and can't eat solid food.

i like the articles on owsley and the one written by weir but seriously about 2 of every 3 rolling stones i get now are "special editions" that spend 200 pages commenting on 40 year old music we all know and love. it's sort of a statement as to how shitty modern music is usually, but theres only so many times i can read about harrisons trip to the haight without getting bored.

but over the last few years i've really gotten very anti rolling stone because

1) good review on rolling stones bigger bang... it sucked
2) good review on the new who album... it SUCKED, it sucked harder and more than green day could dream of
3)any of it's super paranoid political articles... A HALF INSANE DRUGGED FORMER CIA AGENT THINKS LBJ KILLED KENNEDY, half the story was about his son the other half about their visit, zero percent of it proved anything about kennedy... i can go on and would like too but i think this giant post is already gonna annoy people

The world is getting a bit crowded these days, eh? Ya, Rolling Stone has a host of problems...no doubt they are uber-left wing biased...the opposite of FOX News. Once in a while though they still can pull through with the goods...like that Bear article. My wife and I agree that we must be getting old becuase we recognize fewer and fewer of the persons on the cover or on the top selling album list on back. Sigh.

I'm with you. Although I read it, it doesn't thrill me much (though I do disagree about the Stones Bigger Bang, thought it was a decent listen) and usually pisses me off much in the same way it does for everyone else. It's trying to still appeal to those of us who are older, but keep their street cred and bring in the younger crowd. Can't do both, so we'll see what happens.
