When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Anyone have this cd? i read the thing inside and it doesnt fully explain what it is, is it one of the concerts from the live/dead run or is it live/dead plus a few tracks?

They released two versions.

1. 11 disks incorporating everything from 2/27, 2/28, 3/1 and 3/2 plus a bonus disk with some tracks from earlier in the year. This was a limited 10,000 copy release.

2. 3 disk highlight set from the same run.

I've had the complete "unofficial unrelease" for about 4-5 years now. The first two shows are absolutely killer across the board. 2/27 Mountains>Dark Star is the highest of the music most high! And the entire Eleven>Death Dont, Alligator>Caution>Feedback is soul-boggling.

I'd say the 3/1 and 3/2 are a bit less consistently awesome, sometimes due to technical problems, but they have their share of astounding primal Dead moments, esp. the Cryptical Reprise, the New Potato outro jam, the Dark Star> Stephen and the Cosmic Charley from 3/1 (my favorite DS of the run, just slightly ahead of 2/27- most pollees 4th fave) (and the rather comic Hey Jude)and the TIFTOO and the Alligator>Caution of 3/2.

There's just too much to love about February 69. Narrow song selection, IMMENSE range of music!

Those are must have shows.

I believe it is not one show but some nuggets from the same set of shows that lead to Live/Dead. Just picked it up a few days ago. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Are you for real? I mean are they for real? They really botched those picks.

The Dupree's, MotM>Dark Star should definitely be from 2/27 ... the 3/1 acoustic numbers have feedback problems and the transition from MotM into Dark Star is nowhere near as dreamy creamy... I do love the 3/1 Dark Star but they didn't pick that either.

The Alligator>Caution>Feedback should most certainly be from 2/28

THIS IS MADNESS

Thats not Phil. Phil is on the back of the SECOND CD the one on the first is Constanten, Tom Constanten. I also have this CD set and I know for a fact that some of the jams were cut together, like the Mountains Of The Moon>Dark Star, from diffrent days but the first time I listened to the CD's I could have sworn that they came from the same show. Only later did I find out that they were cut together after I read the booklet, I was blown away by the fact that they can peice together something that perfectly.
