I have an original Mutron III - worked on by Richard Lingenberg -he also added an led and true bypass. Outstanding sound again. I've had this for a very long time

I don't run obel anymore, or onboard buffer. been there, done that

where you liking it in the chain before or after boss tu2
eg - strat plus -> tu2 -> mutron.... or vice versa

curious your thoughts

I place my wah and envelope filter before my tuner, but I’m not sure it makes a difference.

Surely you've A-B'd the two approaches. What did you hear?

As a general observation, most pedals don't care if the signal they receive is buffered or not (most Boss pedals are always buffered whether on or off). For the ones that do, the difference isn't subtle.

mutron before tuner = notes from the Mutron pop a little easier but signal seem
after tuner - still smooth and not as bright down the line.... though not sure this is real

i normally run it after. i was going bufferless for a while but now back at the tu2 - i like it..... i think

this is all with gold lace sensors in an old strat plus

How does it sound with just your MuTron and no in-line tuner at all? Perhaps the best solution, tone-wise (I know some have an aesthetic issue with clip-on tuners - I don't), is to move to a clip-on tuner.

I have my TU-3 before my Filter. I couldnt hear any difference between it before or after the tuner. But maybe my ears are def from years of Twin reverb use. :-)

I don't run any buffers before mine, but my tuners are also true bypass so placement doesnt matter
