SO i got a new 25k Volume pot for my Tiger. Before this i had installed a Dimarzio humber and no issues. Worked great, but the stock 25k pot, is too easy to move and seems to only work settings 7-10. SO turn the volume pot below 7 and its basically off. Anywhoo. SO i take the back off the guitar and i see a wire.... green wire that is attached as a ground. WHere it attaches to...? I dont know. Heres a picture

As of now the green wire is attached to the Volume as a ground. But as i said the other end doesnt attach to anything and it was never soldered to anything so.... not quite sure what its there for.

Did it get pressed by a screw to ground the cover plate, or something else part of the shielding?

The Floating Ground Wire Issue
That unsoldered green wire is almost certainly meant to be part of the ground buss — the heavy-gauge copper backbone that ties all grounds (volume pot, tone pots, pickup cavities, output jack sleeve) into a single low-resistance path. In the original Tiger wiring, Steve Parish and Doug Irwin used a thick 10-gauge bare copper wire that runs from the volume pot directly to the output jack sleeve, with secondary connections to the tone pots and shielded cavities.

Here's what likely happened:

1. The green wire was a temporary or intermediate ground during initial wiring or a previous tech's repair
2. It got left unsoldered when the guitar was last worked on
3. It's now floating — not connected at either end — which means it's doing absolutely nothing for your signal path

Was it connected to the control cavity cover?

I don’t know about the extra green wire, but when you soldered the other wires, did you have the pot set to zero? If not, maybe you fried it and the issue has nothing to do with green wire.
