Fender custom shop made a limited number of Alligator replica's. They claim the pickups should be 1955 spec'd pickups.
Anyone concur with this?
The reason I ask is that for years folks here were saying that the '69 Strat pickups were the way to go for 1972 Alligator tones.

In 1955 Fender was using Alnico 3 magnets in their Strat pickups. They switched to Alnico 5 around 1956. When I built my Alligator, I wound the pickups to the 1955 spec. One difference was the G string pole piece. In the ‘50s, Fender used a stagger with a lower G pole piece. Back then, most string sets included a wound G. Being as most of us now play plain G strings, I used a slightly taller pole in the G position.
