Apparently he had been sick for awhile. Im guessing chronic infections or pneumonia after cancer treatment. Saw it happen with my dad years ago. Regardless, rest easy Bob and thank you for a real good time.

This is hitting me hard. I'm still trying to process the world without Bob. I'm eternally grateful to him for his contributions to my life. For a man with little formal education he was a very wise man. For example, remember in Festival Express when everyone else was trashing "the pigs" and Bob spoke up to remind them they were human beings with families, too? At the time, I was with everyone else on this - dehumanize those pigs. Bob's comment were words that Dr. King or Gandhi might have said. He opened my eyes and mind with his insight to a more loving space. I wish his family, friends, and all of us condolences.

This news hit pretty hard because I didn’t have any idea he was having issues. Really struggling with what to say other than he was one of a kind and will be missed.

The last song Jerry ever played was a Phil song.

The last song Phil played was a Bob song.

The last song Bob played was a Jerry song.

RIP all three (and to the others we’ve already lost). It’s scary to think that we’re down to the drummers.

Really sad news. Bob was a unique guitar player and individual. Underrated as a guitar player IMHO. The intro to Weather Report Suite is masterful. The first song that made me think "now I get the Dead!" was Jack Straw. RIP!

My second show was 3/31/87. 200+ shows later, that Jack Straw opener remained the best I’d ever seen- not the longest version, but the jams made Black Sabbath sound like Bon Jovi. It was also the moment I “got it”.
