I'm Ino from Tennessee, only have been playing guitar for a few months but it's something I want to be able to share with others some day. I also enjoy some soul exploring and third eye opening from time to time. I also enjoy some Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Daft Punk. I gotta say after picking up the guitar, my appreciation for music has grown astronomically and I don't lock myself into any specific genre as much as I used to.

Welcome, Ino! Totally get where you’re coming from—picking up an instrument really does open up a whole new layer of appreciation for music. Pink Floyd and Tame Impala are a vibe, especially when you’re in that introspective headspace. On a different note, when I’m building sites, I’ve found that tailored design makes all the difference. Hi Ino, and welcome to the forum. As you are discovering, playing music is FUN! Playing Dead music is BIG FUN!! Doesn’t matter how good you are, as long as you enjoy doing it, it's worth it. And the more you play, the better you will get.

In December, my band (guys I play with weekly primarily for working up our original music, though we work in covers, too) lost our other guitarist. We've had a crap time auditioning the CL ad responders. Until last night, the ones we liked didn't like us, and the ones we disliked loved us. Oy!

Last night, a new guy joined us. He barely plugs in before breaking into Franklin's Tower. Without skipping a beat, the rest of us (guitar-bass-drums) join in, including with sweet harmonies on the choruses. Later, we worked in Bertha, and concluded with Ripple. All sounded fantastic.

So, it turns out the new guitarist/vocalist loves playing Dead as much as the rest of us and wants to return. Now that's a great start!

I feel like we could start the thread of the year under the title “show us on the doll where the CL ‘seeking bandmate’ responses hurt you”

The last time I posted something there, 50% of the responders were treating it like Tinder (but who knows, maybe they actually played guitar too?), 40% didn’t even play the instrument we were looking for, but we found a gem in the remaining 10%.

Exactly! It's like running the racks today on a new Fender or Gibson. 9/10 don't have "it," but it's that final one that's the pick of the litter.
